ConFunkShun Headlines Annual Five Points Event
Anticipation is high for another successful annual 4th of July celebration sponsored by Civil Technology, Inc. A Jazzy 4th of July featuring world renowned entertainment will be held on Tuesday, July 4 in Denver’s legendary Five Points community. Doors will open at 1 p.m. and entertainment will be enjoyed from 2 to 7 p.m.
Since 1999, this annual, networking event has brought together family and friends to celebrate and enjoy great food and entertainment featuring local and international artists.
This year’s lineup includes national recording artist ConFunkShun who charted five consecutive Gold and Platinum albums; jazz flautist and Latin Grammy Award winner Nestor Torres; and Denver’s hottest, new, R&B and jazz artist The Mary Louise Lee Band.
ConFunkShun delivers a superb, high-energy show with electrifying choreography, six-part vocal harmonies, and a dash of fun, fun, fun. They are among the heroes of R&B and funk with romantic ballads, dance-party hits, memorable melodies, inventive horn arrangements, and clav-guitar woven grooves. Come prepared for a dance workout.
Nestor Torres has been captivating audiences with his distinctive mix of Latin, jazz, and pop sounds for more than two decades. His musical chops were developed by playing in Latin dance clubs with the likes of Ray Barretto, Eddie Palmieri, and Tito Puente. By transforming the flute’s role in the contemporary musical landscape, this remarkable virtuoso has earned a devoted following, and has practically established a new genre of popular music.
The Mary Louise Lee Band featuring Mary Louise Lee offers a crisp and powerful new sound in the Denver market. With elegance and style, and the vocal pipes of a seasoned performer, Mary Louise Lee and her phenomenal band are capable of reviving memories of Denver’s Five Points when Five Points was the “heart and soul” of music west of the Mississippi.
Past entertainers for this event have included Hugh Masekela, Pieces of a Dream, Jonathan Butler, Nagee, Brian Culbertson, and Norman Brown. This is the summer jam you don’t want to miss.
