Teller Elementary Art Show Nov. 17
Teller Elementary School, Congress Park’s only public school, is hosting an art walk Nov. 17-19. There will be an opening night reception from 6-8 p.m. at Babooshka (3225 E. Colfax Ave.). Students’ art will be displayed in several restaurants and businesses on Colfax’s BlueBird District, between St. Paul and Adams Streets, and every child enrolled at Teller will have an art piece on display. This effort is designed to mutually benefit neighborhood businesses and Teller by raising Teller’s profile in the community, and by bringing more customers to local businesses. The Teller Elementary Art Show is also a fundraiser for the school’s art program. The generous contributions of numerous sponsors have raised over $2,000.  This year’s theme is African American art, where students will learn about Faith Ringgold, a contemporary African American artist, and use her style to inspire their own art.
