Former Denver Mayor Tapped To Lead Black Chamber As Interim President/CEO

The Colorado Black Chamber of Commerce’s Board of Directors announced that former Mayor of Denver Wellington E. Webb will take the helm of the organization as interim president and CEO.  Webb, who served as Denver Mayor for three terms, will begin immediately.
Already a member of the chamber’s board, former Mayor Webb is the founder of Webb Group International, a project consulting firm based in downtown Denver. As Mayor of Denver, he oversaw an investment of $7 billion in infrastructure while in office from 1991 to July 2003. Those projects included the $4 billion Denver International Airport and redevelopment of the former Stapleton Airport into a thriving residential and business community. He encouraged voters to approve a $300 million expansion to the Colorado Convention Center, which opened in December 2004, and led tough, successful negotiations for a nearby hotel. The mayor strongly supported the revitalization of the Mile High City's downtown, which has become a model nationwide.
The Colorado Black Chamber of Commerce is a Capital Hill-based non-profit organization dedicated to providing leadership for the growth and development of African American business and to facilitating the economic empowerment of the African-American community.
