Smoove Transition

Comic JB Smoove to Take the Stage in Denver

Actor and comedian JB Smoove has appeared on several television series and the big screen. In May, he is making his was to a live stage at Denver’s own Comedy Works.
JB (Jerry Brooks) Smoove hails from Mount Vernon, New York. However, in 1999, this comedian found himself in Los Angeles in the right place at the right time. Smoove landed on MTV’s Lyricist Lounge Show, which followed appearances on HBO’s The Chris Rock Show as well as Comedy Central’s Premium blend.
Smoove has also appeared on shows such as HBO’S Russell Simmons’ Def Comedy Jam, BET’S Comic View, Showtime at the Apollo, Everybody Hates Chris, and Cedric the Entertainer Presents. However, this comic has not limited his unique talents to one particular audience. Playing supportive roles in films such as Tomorrow Night (1998), Pootie Tang (2001) and Mr. Deeds (2002), Smoove’s undeniable humor has rioted audiences across the nation.
In 2003, Smoove became a part of the writing staff for Saturday Night Live where he spent three years writing sketch ideas and making occasional appearances. As of late, JB Smoove has become infamous for his character Leon Black on HBO’s Curb Your Enthusiasm. The character‘s haphazard advice and ungrammatical outbursts have become memorable catchphrases for the show’s most recent season.
You can see one of the funniest comics on television and the silver screen at the Comedy Works in Downtown Denver’s Larimer Square on Thursday, May 22-25.
